【導演的話】
2002年寫這齣電影劇本，
原本是為了讓我的好友陳明才得以在一部劇情長片中盡情發揮他的才華。
他是我認為台灣表演工作者中的佼佼者，
可惜一直沒有恰當的機會讓他發光發熱，
於是我決定量身訂做。
2003年8月，電影籌備前夕，
他卻獨自走向台東都蘭灣，從此不再出現。
2006年8月，我決定不管怎麼樣還是要完成這部電影。
這是對好友的一項承諾，
一個電影創作者自我意志的展現，
一群真性情的電影工作者的突圍。
這部電影講人的困局，與不計代價的追尋。
我相信，
這是一段最遙遠的路程，但終會走到每一個人內心最深處的地方。
然後進一步照見自己。
【Director's Statement】
When I wrote this screenplay in 2002, it was initially for my best friend, Chen Ming Tsai.
I thought he was one of the top performers in Taiwan,
and therefore I decided to make a film specially written with him in mind.
In August 2003, just before pre-production started, he silently ended his life on the east coast of Taiwan.
In August 2006, I decided to finish this film in order to realize the promise,
and to break free from the depression with a group of sincere filmmakers then present in the Taiwanese film industry.
This film is about the predicament of being human, and the pursuit of meaning regardless of the price.
I believe it is indeed the most distant course which,
nonetheless, will reach the deepest place of everyone's heart,
through which one can reflect on and see the real self.
